Subject: Re: rent, economies of size, and government payments

While I don't have a problem with what size anyone ends up being, I have often wondered how one arrives at the poiint where he feels he is big enough. Is it:
*a net income amount
*a farm of a certain amount of acres
*a large amount of equipment
*more food
*a more expensive car or house
*so big there aren't enough hours in the day no matter how hard you work
*more acres than anyone around you, or perhaps the county or state
*a belief that if you are big enough you will be more highly regarded or become immortal
I could go on, but you get my drift. I really meant it when I said I have no issue with size, I just would like to know the reasoning involved. I am small (1,200 acres) and passed up a chance to double my size a few years ago in the belief that I would not be healthier or happier if I was bigger and I would in all probability end up the same way as all farmers(big and small) in all of recorded history regardless of my decision - dead.
