Nebraska | oh man...I started something good.
I know it makes for a better schedule/family life for the owner of the farm to milk 200+ cows because they wont have to do the milking and can be more of a manager but im just looking to build a herd on somebody else's farm with a labor/trade agreement for feed etc. and possibly have to work a second job to pay some bills but I've been on too many farms that were 120 cows or less and the owners did the milking and tried to do all the work themselves had a big parlor and got the cows milked in an hour and still are able to lead a life with family in it and pay the bills and make good money when milk is up. Thats what im looking to do in the future if possible.
When you milk more cows your just writing bigger checks to pay expenses/employees.
I wont in my life time ever be able to pencil 10,000+ an acre land and be able to pay that with cows and small numbers. Maybe im just fooling myself and all of this is a dream. But I think it can still be done. | |
