Martinton,il | There is no question that owning your own sprayer pays but it comes down to if you have enough man power and enough time and equipment to get planting done in the same timely way you do now. If your planting window suffers then I don't think it would be worth it. I don't spray my own because I am a one man show and I don't want my planting to be delayed because I am spraying. I also don't want to have to deal with chemical reps when chemicals don't work. Co ops stand behind their work and they make it right. I am satisfied with my spraying operations and for me it isn't worth the savings to do it myself. For me it's hiring help at a busy time of year and also not spending a lot of money.
