Funk, Ne | Hey guys, happy 4th of July weekend! God bless America I've got a question here, has anyone had their spraying hired done in the past and then went and bought their own machine? Just curious how the dollars come out? Pros and cons of doing it yourself? We currently farm 2,000 acres of corn and soybeans in South central Nebraska. We run a pre plant nitrogen program and burn down, then post plant herbicides. The local spraying company that does it charges $7.50/ac to apply. We do not have any of the equipment, no sprayer, truck or trailer. Just spitballing, if we bought a sprayer it'd probably be an R series Deere in that $250,000 range or so. Then tack on a decent farm truck and tanker trailer (we would be able to get hot loads from the chemical rep). Looking for personal opinions and experiences. The company that does it right now does a fantastic job and we have no complaints. Just trying to figure out if it'd be worth having your own machine down the road. Thank you guys! | |
