| I guess we have more running to do with 5 kids and no town for 15 miles in any direction (40 mi to a town with a walmart). When gas was cheap our fuel bill would be $300/month more often than I would like, with these prices it could be $1000. Driving the little POS can save me up to $500/month - it's worth it to me - I'm not too proud to drive something more economical. And, yes, we do try to consolidate trips and carpool as much as possible.
I'm glad others are blessed not needing to drive as much, but even at our miles/week I didn't consider the metro until gas went back over $3
and diesel $4 and the neighbor put the car up for sale. I'm sure I wouldn't buy new just for economy.
