If you are looking for a job, vacation time can be negotiated for. It may not be in the employee manual, but they are looking for help and you are looking for a job (maybe). And, the (maybe) part helps YOU. Want to hire an engineer? I start with x weeks of vacation. No? Thanks, goodbye. You still have a job, they are still LOOKING for help.
