Subject: RE: Off Farm Job Advice

Floyd County, Iowa
I had an in town job working at co-op for 20 years, putting in 50 to 60 hours a week, and farming. I retired from the town job last July.
Just keep in mind that you might feel the burn out at the new job, too. I'm not sure switching jobs would eliminate it. The burn out, plain and simple, is from too many hours and stress. I worked all day, then came home and worked until after dark. Weekends were filled with work around the farm. It was fun for a long time, then it wasn't.
Sad to say, but I think it ruined the good attitude I had toward the farm. I used to absolutely love farming. I'm home during the week now, and get stuff done in an easy time frame, but the joy is not there like it was.
Just something to chew on.
