81 was a decent time to start. You didn't have time to show a lot of paper equity like the guys who started in the early 70's.
I started in 82 and it would have been real good if I had started slow with some money.
The way it was I made some money but it is hard to pay for a line of machinery and borrowed crop inputs in 1 year.
