Federal crop as we know it did not exist.
PCA wanted me to get crop insurance. With the cost of the premium it would guarantee a loss for the year.
The up side was it didn't take major cash to farm.
I think $25 an acre would put in a crop of corn.. Cash rent of $50 would have been high. Most was on shares.
$18,000 bought a line of equipment and put in a crop on 300 acres in 82.
Most folks figured on those acres making a living.
