When I took my airbrake cert. we were going over airlines on trailers etc. Instructor said always keep them tied and not hanging down. In rough parts of some large cities he said guys would slide under and cut the lines and steal the trailer and truck. He left dummy line hang low so they wouldnt cut the real ones, had to put new dummy lines on 4 times. Had a trucking friend going through the Bronx and had a guy jump on the running board and was told to pull over at gun point. Inched over to the side and grabbed a few more gears as he clipped a street light with the mirror ;)
