Faunsdale, AL | 1…The small I stud or the #1 spade on the regulator requires a switched 12 volt input to excite the alternator each time the truck is started. Which one you use shouldn’t matter.
2….The #2 regulator terminal is a voltage sensing terminal used to bias the alternator output up if there’s a significant voltage drop before the voltage gets to the main 12 volt bus/distribution panel. Since you don’t have that full time hot wire in the harness, it works fine to just attach that wire running to the #2 terminal to the BAT output stud. The typical Delco is plenty hot enough at 14.5 volts without biasing it higher.
You can buy the regulator plug with a short wiring harness if you want the polarized plug instead of just using two push-on terminals.
