Those are the only two places the alternator connects to my truck with wires...
It's possible you had a one wire self excited alternator before, and you replaced it with a standard internally regulated alternator that needs excite to charge. "I" and/or #1 will need battery voltage to charge. The screw gun WILL work, an 850RPM drill probably won't, but it's a pain to do and hold the multimeter at the same time. Easy for the store to do it because everything is clamped and clipped. Just easier and safer on the engine though. |
