Trouble is it doesn’t sound as if it was lack of stopping power. Sounds as if anything, it would have been the anti lock system keeping the wheels turning, therefore just not enough distance to stop at the rate the brakes were slowing the car, if at all. Gravel surface wouldn’t be able to make use of high powered brakes anyway I wouldn’t think.
