I hit the brakes in a manner that I thought that was adequate for the turn. A lot harder than normal but not max. Quickly turned to max as I realized it wasn’t enough the way it was stopping. Had time still so I released briefly and tried again. By that time I was far enough along that if I didn’t get the max of what the tires could do I was out of luck so I tried max again. Same thing. Then it was over.

I learned about anti-skid brakes a long time ago. When they work properly, they will lengthen your stopping distance. That's why you need to reduce speed in slippery conditions.
