I'm sure there was a lot of life happening at the time that distracted from the most important task at the time which was driving. Good to read everyone is OK.

Judging by what you have typed, my thoughts are you and your wife are/were traveling much faster than both of you are thinking and are aware of in theTesla when not paying close attention to speed. A Tesla fault might be that the vehicle gives drivers a feeling of overconfidence and unawarness of what driving conditions truly are.

Around here, over speeding the steering/braking ability of vehicles was quite common when FWD vehicles started becoming mainstream...especially during winter driving conditions. The same thing happens with AWD vehicles today.

Try kick the speed up another 10 maybe 20 MPH with your van when trying to recreate the same senario and see what happens.

I don’t know if you caught this in the original post but the experiences my wife and I both experienced were when the gravel roads were wet and muddy. Our gravel is not great.

When I had the wreck the gravel was dry.

In mud neither of us drives too fast and in fact we drive slower in the Tesla than other vehicles because it has other safety features that just don’t allow it to go very fast. It will not spin its wheels. I’ve been fairly shocked that we haven’t gotten stuck with it yet. I’m sure the only reason we haven’t is because it’s all wheel drive.

Regardless we were going slower than we would have in other vehicles because of the mud and how it performs in mud. And we still both blew through an intersection.
