By your logic no theories would ever be valid. Like I've stated earlier majority consensus of scientific opinion is scientific consensus. There will always be outlier researchers for many reasons that doesn't mean the outliers are correct.

Incoming data is always changing. That is why the science on a subject can change. But it is literally the best we as a society can do at the present time.

Picking and choosing what data you believe in is faith not science.


What you said is illogical and not true. What I basically said is that there is nobody that is consistently correct and always on the side of the true science and speaking out and arguing against junk science.

And no, the peer reviewed status is not the best we can do. The process has a high probability of introducing bias while leading people to believe that anything under that banner must be the best known science. Often it is not.

Edit to add: oh, and consensus is something that virtually never happens but is used the same way. A true consensus would only occur when the point of science is reached where it will never have to change again and no one is even bothering to challenge it. As you stated, science is an ongoing learning process. Silencing voices that oppose something so that only one side is heard does not make consensus simply because you never heard the opposing side.
