I will vote for trump for 100 other reasons but I generally agree that 4 years of tariffs won't be enough to make a long term difference with China if it can't be followed through on with the next president. The US, arguably, should get more exports from the sole fact we keep Chinas economy rolling (google the $, Brazil is nothing to them but land to produce cheap food. They own South America and we let them). Trump needed the 8 years back to back to make a difference and alternating back and forth between both parties every 4 years keeps us in a weird balance of two extremes that makes it impossible to sustain anything. But then again, trying to keep them in check is better than letting them take over so embrace the pain.
