Subject: Not in production at all??

EC Nebraska

There is ground in my area that wouldn't be farmed if it wasn't for crop insurance and a fair amount of ground in the eastern belt that would be farmed differently due to flood risk.

I understand that flood risk areas might be in pasture or something else, but I'm guessing they'd make very productive pasture with pretty high stocking rates. Which goes back to the earlier point that it's still making beef. It's still in ag production, even if it's being farmed differently.

But what kind of ground wouldn't be farmed at all without crop insurance? Not even pasture? Not in production at all? That's a new one for me. I'm genuinely curious.
