Fruita CO | I walked out of the house at the ranch one day & a jet came over the place almost scraping the treetops, probably an F104 as I remember. Scared the crap out of me & the dogs, nobody else was home to witness it...he was over the rim of the valley in about 10 seconds, probably never saw me shaking my fist at him...
The ranch was 30 miles from any town, & I remember coming out of school some afternoons & the sky was totally crisscrossed by jet trails. Learned later that remote areas like that were used as mock bombing targets during the Cold War... Sonic booms happened every day.
The old B-36's would fly over so high you could barely see them but still rattled the windows in the house...6 turnin' & 4 burnin'.... | |
