| Yes. It's all surface applied. Believe me I have my reservations about it. What I described is by far the most common method of N application here in northeast Nebraska. And if they don't put all of it on that way then most will topdress with urea and AMS later. The guys who work their cornstalks don't have these issues I'm having. I'm fighting 2 year's worth of residue.
I'm sure both of those would help. I'm worried about the extra headache a 2x2 placement could create. Surface dribble banding N & S seems like the most trouble free route, but no guarantees its going to get through the residue. We used to do a popup, but I remember still having these same issues, albeit, not as bad. So was it helping, or is it just worse now because we are getting higher yields than we were back then? | |
