southern indiana
We farm very little flat ground almost all hel here. Been notilling for 40+ years. Fought the same thing for a long time. Finally found what works for us. Change openers every two years to ensure a sharp disc and good bearing.
Get rid of any coulter out front. We runner Martin cleaners with depth bands and clean sweep. With the good opener blades you don’t need to move as much trash as you think just barely smooth the area. As for closing system we like furrow cruisers. Above all else TILE. Nothing works good in mud. This setup will handle heavy soil. Will not wash on our slopes. We run Deere 1770nt by the way. Good luck trial and error for your own soil. This is what works for us.
