You have pretty well hit the reason that we have a full shop, grain trucks, a dozer, lime/litter  spreader, cattle, build everything and do everything.  You need the people for corn harvest, then once you have them, you need to keep them employed.  There are lots of things that will make money, but that could be let go if you could just get away without having to staff corn harvest.  Part time just doesn't cut it in our opinion.  When we tried to do a lot with part time, it ended up that the part times did all the driving and we spent all our time as service techs fixing every little problem.  I'm much much happier with qualified people who can be counted on to solve their own problems, but they are harder to find and when you find them you want to keep them busy and earning a living so that they don't have to go elsewhere to survive.
