Subject: Hydraulic Drives to control Planter sections

A little over a year ago plowboy described how to set up a planter with a hydraulic drive to control sections of the planter. Some of the links in his post are no longer good. I'm looking at trying to figure out how to replicate that process.

I thought these motors might work well. I just picked the smallest ones that I could find because I figured a large motor wouldn't be required to drive a few planter units and if I increased the size the hydraulic flow requirements would increase. Maybe I need a larger motor?

I also wondered if I plumb say 12 of these in series (say you want to control a 24 row planter with 2 rows per section) is the pressure going to be so high that a 2900 lb hydraulic system could not handle it? I probably wouldn't do that many sections but I would like to know the limitations I'm dealing with.

Thanks.
