It's not a bad idea to put lots of switched outlets outside too so outside christmas lights can be turned on from inside with a switch.
Can put some switched outlets outside up by the soffit too so if you want to put some icicle christmas lights on your rain gutters you can turn them on from the comfort of your living room with the flick of a switch.
