Subject: Re: grass fed beef - "corn effect" wears off?

Driftless SW Wisconsin

Sorry - did not see this question. yes, I think 81 had been grazing corn after weaning for a short time in Jan & Feb of 2009. He was harvested in August of 2009.

I have found that the corn "effect" wears off in a couple months. Another example is a couple cows I purchased had been fed silage by their previous owner as part of a group.  For lack of a better word, these cows looked "greasy" when I bought them. After a few months on grazing only their body type became noticeably different. Slimmed down and slicked up.

So I don't really know for sure what effect the grazing standing corn in winter had on #81 by August.  I would think that most of that would have "worn off" by August. jmho.
