Driftless SW Wisconsin

Ben, the grass-fed Baldy pictured above just stop gaining at 16 months and 1110 lb. He was out of one of my 1200 lb Hereford cows and a Woodhill Angus bull. I keep track of weights about monthly and he just stopped gaining so I take it that he was full grown. I don't know what holding him for another 8-10 months would have done except consume more grass and expensive winter hay. Maybe he would have put on some more fat but didn't seem like it was worth the time. He wasn't bad when processed and would have been great for most cooking uses. Just not as good as the other steers coming off of corn at 13-14 months as pictured.
