I have driven in quite a few of the major US cities. Nothing prepared me for the city streets in Rouen. Mostly one way streets that were very narrow. There were cars on both sides of the street, and we had just inches to spare when moving. Fortunately, we had a guidance system in the car. The freeways were fine as everyone drove the speed limit. The highway system there has automatic radar guns that issue tickets. My m-i-l got a speeding ticket while we were there. We had a rental and got the ticket about 2 months after we got home.
Rome was just as bad. The other drivers all knew where they were going. I didn't.
