Take a look at a 1400 or 1600 series IH Axial flow, their cabs aren't centered either and I've never understood why. Also, isn't the engine in front design (JD and MF) make for having the combine heavy to the one side?

I know some think the Claas/European deal of having the cab between cab and grain bin is good, but how do you even get to the movtor to work on if need be?
