The Versatile T/A 2000 combine ( a pull-type) was built like that. When John Deere tried to buy Versatile back in the 80's they ended up with that patent and they turned it into the CTS combines, but they didn't continue the auger design, just put the guts into the 9000 series body. A friend of mine ran one, they weren't the greatest machine, but what they liked about the auger was that you could dump on the go on the right hand side of the machine (this is while picking up swaths) and the trucker was able to look out the window and the edge of the table was right there, which is good when you are dumping on the go into a super b, maybe not such a big deal when using a body job. This would also be handy for keeping the truck out of the dust, or when doing high busheling crops going back and forth (corn)
