Don't be trashing one breed over another just because a couple wild ones ruin the whole bunch. If you go to the sale barn and buy 30 calves or cows of any breed you're always going to get one or two nutjobs. We used simi bulls in the 80's and they were easy going and made some of our best cows. The only reason we went away from them was because our cows were getting to big and the buyers didn't want simmi looking calves with too much white on them. Simmental has done a lot to reduce frame size and improve calving ease. We calve in March/April and wean early November and 50% will weigh 700+ on just grass and momma's milk. Buyers tell us every year they like our calves because they have a little more bone and stretch in them instead of straight bred Angus that are short and dumpy.
