Rich, I've never fed one, but what I'm told is that rat tailers do fine in the lot while it's warm, but they struggle in the cold weather. Now I don't know if that's true or not, but it does make a little sense. As far as eating, a buddy of mine eat's one quite often, because he says he takes a hit on the barn, so he just feeds one out.
