Conger, MN | At what age does checking start now for youth hockey?
When I was coaching, no check squirts started, and then no-check peewees. Some of the peewees I coached had one year of check, and then the next year was no check.
At that time, the teams from Canada that we ran into at tournaments still have checking at the peewee level. Is that still the case?
The check vs. no-check topic was really hot hear for years around the time of the change. However, it seems people have adapted and the complaining is not heard as much.
Our Association has training for kids going from Peewee to Bantam level, so that they can be properly trained on how to properly deliver and receive checks. Some kids learn better than others.
