Subject: Re: Leica mojoRTK - Reality Check

Handsfreefarming, precision ag gear is just another tool in a growers tool box hopefully helping him to achieve greater returns from his crops. Farmers are sick of hearing, bigger, better, best, they just want to know if a product will do the job and what the return on their investment will be. If someone just needs 2cm up and back guidance as an initial step into control traffic, minimum/zero till farming practises and he can get it for under 20K fitted then good on Leica for coming up with such a product. Really get tired of many companies "assuming" bells and whistles means "its the best" and marketing spin that ignores in paddock application performance, servicability, ease of use etc etc. Biggest question we should be asking companies before buying is their equipment is is it ISOBUS 1173 compliant, that is the platform the industry is moving towards and if its not a grower could end up with gear that will show its age very quickly. As I understand it John Deere/Greenstar and AGCO/Beeline are the only 2 brands to have embraced this standard and am fairly sure Leica is moving that way. Don't get me wrong Trimble has some brilliant products, performance excellent, however if they have chosen to not become ISOBUS compatible and a farmer has the option of using another brand of PA equipment to monitor and control his ISOBUS John Deere planter tractor and maximerge planter, ISOBUS Gleaner Combine, ISOBUS Class hay equipment, ISOBUS Rogator spray rig without steer kits, data calibaration etc etc he is going to take the easier, cost effective route.
