Subject: Re: So how many highly educated farmers are here

Princeton, MN
I have a two year as a farm equipment mechanic, a four year in ag education and agronomy.

The value that college brought to me was learning how to deal with other people from differing backgrounds and how to learn on my own. The public schooling system is completely f-ed. They focus too much on standardized test scores and making the kids feel good about themselves. People that only went through high school were told what they needed to know, and usually the teachers were full of it on a lot of subjects, they are not taught how to learn via self directed research. In college you learn that some self motivation is the only way you are going to get through it, no one is going to babysit you and make sure you pass your test (athletes excluded).
