Jim Im not sure if I agree totally with you. No cow will make you money from now until the calf is a month or 2 old. That is why no one sells calves until they are weaned. I have to feed my cows for about 200 days durning the winter. If I took the value of the feed I fed them minus the value of the calf it would never pencil out. But keep that calf and add some value to it such as feeding it out or backgrounding it and then you show a profit. But I do agree that monster cows will eat more. You have to figure out if 2 small cows will bring you home more money in the fall than one big cow.
