Subject: RE: Backflowing Tile

southern MN
The circled tree would be a major concern. Plugged tile.

Anything downstream that plugged or broke the tile. Anyone pretty close downstream add on more tile.

Anyone on the upstream side add more tile in the past decade?

Do you know the history of the whole tile setup. Was it built undersized and more added on to it so basically always underperformed like this? (Well this isn’t perfect but it’s a lot better than it used to be!) Or did it work fine and something changed suddenly?

Are you in an area that has been extra long term wet and rainy, way more than the old timers consider normal.

Any or all if this can be factors.

Be sure it’s not your tree.

Edit: hadn’t seen your updated pic and info.

Old concrete or clay tile is smooth inside, and can flow more water than a modern ribbed plastic tile of the same size. The common conversion is one needs to move up one tile size to flow the same water in ribbed plastic. They do make a more expensive smooth wall plastic that will flow the same amount as clay or concrete.

So….

1. Did they replace the old tile with a size that flows the same amount of water?

2. Does that sharp bend slow water flow?

3. Does the new tile lay flatter than the old tile did, a shallower fall?

Any of these 3 could effect you, especially 1 and 3.

Paul
