You’ll most likely find the IRS to be your biggest challenge, so address those tax issues first and foremost. Once you quit growing/farming, the tax man becomes the 800 pound gorilla in the room. I’ve helped an awful lot of folks manage this process over the years, and been through it myself. Do not make any decision without considering the tax ramifications first.
It's not that bad. It is only money and it only hurts for a little while. Then the pile of cash left after they get done with you is pretty comforting after being in debt most of your life.
There are worse things than paying taxes. And once it is behind you, it is behind you. No more worrying about it.
Now the three corporations with only cash left in them, well that is another story.
While there may be way worse things than paying taxes, it is prudent and wise to mitigate the tax burden as much as legally possible. Just takes some planning ahead.
