You have to factor in how much hype is being done at these bull sales. You sit and take notes of buyers and avg's. Lots of the big named production sales have predetermined sale day price. If they don't bring the asking price floor they go on the big truck out of state. No way in heck guys are paying $7,500 to $10,000 for a G/N load of bulls for commercial herds. When I sit there and keep track of numbers at sales, it's very evident what's going on. You don't buy them. However they make the sales report, slather a few loads of bulls at those prices, you end up with high sales avg's.

Everyone needs to walk away from these guys. Leave them hanging on 400 hd of bulls on sales like this. Most all bull sales under 100 hd. have a bit lower avg's. The last five or so years have really proven this theory. I would put these 100 bull outfits up against the 400 to 600 bull outfits sold for quality. Bigger outfits are now just for the hype.
