| Don’t make it a you vs me thing Tomcat. It was simply stated chopping vs wrapping was found to be cheaper for that individuals operation.
There can be an argument made for either one to be cheaper. Both require a tractor to pull the baler or chopper. Both require some transportation to get product from field to yard. And then you have either a wrapper and a machine to load it; or you have a machine to bag or pack.
If you’re already setup for wrapping and are satisfied with the practice at this stage of your life, keep doing it. Same for making a living on 40hd, good on you. Quite a few ways to run livestock, as long as they’re healthy I don’t care how you do it.
Low cost producer in Tx going to look a lot different then one in Nd. Neither are wrong for their area, just different obstacles to overcome keeping critters upright. | |
