Pittsburg, Kansas | My wife used to make me a home made pie almost weekly when at home. Home grown apples with only a small amount of added sugar or a low sugar crème pie, usually chocolate but sometimes coconut crème.
The secret she learned for pie crust was butter and lard along with just a splash of Vodka. The Vodka never got told at family gatherings because both of out families are tea totaller. But she had flaky crust to die for...........ahhhh but no more. Was a great memory a hundred pounds ago though.......
