Wisconsin | Back over 10 year's ago a 499 hydro swing would cut pretty easy at 7 mph. and do a great job. Even when a custom hay man was cutting with his Macdon he would cut as fast as condition's allowed sometimes as low as 5 mph. and up to 11 mph. condition's and crop's can differ so much those are true key's. I know if I cut the huge open 40 acres I can cut that twice as fast as the 17 acres with the corner's and tree's and fencelines and many other obstacles. When two bigger dairies nearby needed to cut over 250 acres a day they tried many different approaches to achieve it. #1 get 3 or 4 small disk mower's and let anyone cut not a good answer. #2 get a Fendt or something like it that run's 3 mower's and moves. Price tag turned that one off. #3 hire custom cutter to do it. Probably the best and cheapest approach for them. | |
