I think the problem arises where the wood and metal meet, you don't/can't get foam between them and you fastener is in them same general area.

If the steel is tight against the perlin, no way you can get foam between them. The problem used to really show up quick with nails, and I cant see where screws are to much different since most builders aren't to carefully when driving screws and squeze the gasket right out.

The problem seem to be more prevalent in livestock building with poorer ventalation, I'd go get you some pix but the problem was corrected back in the 80's and lessons learned so finding pictures would be a challenge.


With that said,the best installation job I've seen is the false ceiling with foam sprayed on top. The time I looked at that the guy had a foot of snow untop of the ceiling the had sifted in during the Blizzard a week before.(make one wonder how good cellulose and that would survive that?)
