If you spray all around your purlins and nailers on the roof, as fasteners loosen over then next 30 years and moisture seeps in, it is there is no air circulation to air it out, thus the moisture is retained in the between the metal and the wood it is nailed to and eventually rots.  Not a good idea directly under the steel roof.
