| Seen a lot of it this fall, field averages 80-160 acre fields. Guys that are big into no-till, no-tilling corn on corn this past spring, and they used all the cleaning wheels and closing wheel and other attachments, wish they hadn't now. Fall ripped and spring field cultivated ground is paying huge dividends. Mixing all that residue in the top 12" of soil and getting the nutrients cycling and getting early soil warmup is key with corn on corn. I'm not saying it can't be done, I no-till, but not grass back on a grass, especially when I have a blanket of 5 ton of residue on the surface. Seems these high yielding soils and high commodity prices can pay for some tillage real fast. Get the nutrients cycling and release that cycled nitrogen IN the soil, not on top where it dissipates into the atmosphere. I'm not saying you're wrong or off base, probably doing a lot better than I am. Good luck with harvest.
