Subject: RE: Flying on wheat question...

I had bin run seed applied with an air flow at 3 bpa into standing corn stalks last fall. We rotary mowed the fields and applied Peak (no fert). As an experiment, I decided to keep the field mostly because the stand was so good. Keep in mind that at the time Wheat was nowhere near as valuable as it is today. I applied 90 lbs of N and 15 lbs of S in the Spring. Don't quote me because I don't have my yield book handy, but it was very close to 80 bpa. One field (43 acres), and one year, so don't bank on it.

Am I going to try that trick this year? Heck no. With the current selling price of wheat, I can do some decent tillage behind corn stalks.
