| We have a covercrop program where aerial seeding is fairly common. Much of the cover crop goes in on late harvested crops or on wet ground so aerial is the only practical way to meet the deadlines. It's hit or miss whether you get a decent stand mostly depending on fall rainfall. Some years aerial seeded wheat is the best around and some years you can hardly tell it's been seeded. Locally, cost is .16-.17 per pound and the cover crop program requires 150 #/ac so it's not cheap. Some of the applicators have seed available and with others you meet them at the airport with your seed and load their tender truck. | |
