Pat/Dave, are you talking airplane or helicoptor?  With our small fields, airplanes just don't seem to be an option.  As we get more into cover crops, we've had several farmer broadcast small grain and then mow corn stalks to mulch.  Worked so well last year that some were thinking long and hard about harvesting instead of burn down.  Not sure if they did or not.  But I would think aerial broadcast would have worked just as well (of course last fall had really good conditions).  Here we used to have 3 helicoptor companies (one just got bought out) and I've attempted to get them interested in flying on cover crops but the interest just insn't there.  They are contracted by state for black flys, gypsy moths and apparently by big wood companies for fertilizing trees.  I will try again if I can secure some seed money from the state again.
