| It depends on if the corn is down across the row or with the row. I prefer the gathering chains up a bit with the points set down to slide under the down stalks. Two years ago I had some severely down corn and I did an excellent job of harvesting it by setting up the head like that. Also, I slowed down and harvested 7 rows with an 8 row head. That gave us a second shot at those stalks that escaped the first pass. The inner snouts do a better job of picking up than the outer snouts. If you work windward side of the down rows, you can do a better job. | |
