Subject: I see you understand what I'm thinking about.

Thanks BigNorsk, You see what I'm thinking. I am concerned about the seed bed as you describe. I was'nt aware that no machines exsist to put the fert below the seed and still make a seed bed. I'll definatly keep that in mind as I search for tools to get this thing going.

On the band of fertilizer, it is about a 50/50 mix of people that swear by a starter band even with the carbon, and people that say its a waste of money. I dont know for sure either, but if there is a chance it could help in the fall planting, I'd sure like to make sure its there. Even if it is just a small shot of N.

I wish I'd have taken a few ore pics of the no-till re-seed job we did this spring with a JD 1590. The seed to soil contact means everything. That no-till drill made about as perfect seedbed as I can imagine. At least in the conditions we did the planting in. The seedbed is the main priority like you mentioned. I want to get even emergence if I can.

What no-till seeders do you think would work for a small seed like grass?
