Callao, Missouri
How bad is the heat and flies for the period you are talking about? What about 2-3 weeks after if you have late calvers? I calve primarily Sept/Oct, some as late as today (hopefully no more). The calving part is much easier, haven't pulled a calf in a long time. I thought one was going to need it a few weeks ago but by the time I found all the equipment she got it over with. If you keep calves on the cows through the winter, expect to feed A LOT more. Like enough to feed for the cows, the calves, and then the cows and calves...lol. Other than those things, its great.

I forgot to add that the calves will be lighter at weaning. That's not a concern for me since I keep them as yearlings, but if you do sell off the cow they will probably be lighter.
